Common Misconception: A missionary is someone who serves overseas to help people in a foreign country come to know Jesus.
Reality: We are all missionaries. Day in. Day out. At the office. At school. At home. At the grocery store.
Every where we go, we are representing Jesus in skin. Being a christian isn't only about Sunday. The other 6 days a week are when people pay the most attention.
So then it is important to remember that and to remember that we are representations of Jesus in skin.
In San Francisco, Adventures Encounter is partnering with a World Race alumni who served 11 months overseas in 11 different countries. Lindsay Nelson has served in many countries and through it all God continued to speak something over her, into her, and through her.
Misconception: Missionaries must work overseas.
Reality: Missionaries are Jesus in skin to the people all around them.
After traveling the world looking for the place God was calling her, the answer was in front of her all along. Her calling was at home. San Francisco.
Today, she is serving the people of her community. She helps women who need a hug. She prays for people who are in the pits of life. She offers bread to those hungry. Water to those thirsty. She offers life to those who just need to hear about some Good News.
So whats exciting? We get to partner with someone who is actively involved in ministry in their home town. Lindsay lives, works, serves and breathes San Francisco and the people of that city.
